Top 2000

Forbes recently published a report on the world's largest public companies. Notice that Barclays total assets (~2.000 $BIL) are about 20 times higher than Romania's GDP. Still wondering why big banks don't come to Romania ?

With 5 entries in the Top 20, the Oil & Gas Operations sector is likely to maintain its supremacy over any alternative fuel industry for decades to come. If there were a real global warming concern, bigger taxes could be imposed on these companies, and the money could be used to subsidise the green industry, increasing their profit margin until scientific development in the area picks up.
